Thanks folks!
I've been hanging with the family a lot and there's been some shows we've been into, plus I've been changing out some of my equipment. I got everything hooked up, now I just need to put everything in place (if I can) I'm running out of room here.

Thanks much for the 320 rip! It replaces my prior copy which is only at 192.

However, I am pretty certain you have the tracks labeled incorrectly. Example.. the first track 'Sunken City' actually SHOULD be the song you have for 'Dawn under the sea'

Do you own the 2-disc set for 'The Exotic Moods Of Les Baxter' -- if so, play the track 'The Ancient Galleon' and you will notice this is the same song as you've labelled 'Coral Castle'.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news... on the plus side, this rip SOUNDS great!

Album is from 61, so, AFAIK, mechanical rights discontinue next year, so you can officially publish it then.

Wow! Thank you so much. I wish I could find any Les Baxter. Any.

This stereo copy will be wonderful, and thanks for your previous shares.

Thanks for this. It has long been one of my favorite Les Baxter Albums. It is so strange and beautiful. I can't wait to compare your rip to the 192 version I dl'd years ago.

Thank you Rich!
This is awesome.
Now I understand your happiness :)
Beautyfully transfered too :)

Incredible. A 1961 LP. I think this is the music that inspired Vangelis his 'Oceanic' CD :)

Cheers!

Thanks Jonathan. I still have the 192 kps version in my alarm clock/CD player. It's set to "The Enchanted Sea." I wake up to it every morning (except weekends) :)

Thanks Dusty, enjoy and keep on blogging.

Finally got around to comparing. Your rip is the better one, so time for an upgrade. One thing though, the tracks Stars in the Sand and Dolphin are reversed here, and I don't know which is correct, yours or the 192 version.

Rich said...

Not too sure, I'll have to go back and check myself.
Thanks,
Rich

Just found out you can listen to the album here:

Sorry man, the 192 version was correct! Great work though, no complaining.

Excellent rip of "Jewels" - now PLEASE give us one of "Port of Pleasure" ... maybe from a reel? the recent CD release is laughable.

BTW - is that Jack Jones in your pic?

Baxter's "Jewels of the Sea" is being released as an mp3 album by Capitol tomorrow, on June 15, 2010. Also being released is "Ports of Pleasure" & the coveted "Space Escapade" in stereo (I am watering at the mouth!). Seems that Capitol is FINALLY wising up to the fact that people like us live & die for this stuff, & instead of endlessly challenging blogs for their precious posts, they've decided to finally release a few things! -

... spread the word!! I know I will!

Also African Jazz and Jungle Jazz are being released on one CD. I just pre-ordered my copy on Amazon the other day.
