Don Catelli and The All Stars!

I found this diamond in the rough at a thrift store for twenty five cents. After a thorough cleaning and a run on the computer, I was in business.

Another good album from the Directional Sound catalog. I was always impressed with the sound of their albums. Thanks for sharing.

What a great sound on this!
I love finding gems I've never heard of, and that is rare.

I agree, the sound on this LP is quite impressive both on a dynamic and content level, really bright and clear. One may notice when wearing head phones, a few tracks contain a low frequency bump that occurs on each note strike of the piano. I was able to locate the anomaly by using the spectral analysis. This would be tedious work if I were to remove each bump from every note so I left them in since you won't notice this on speakers.

The Directional Sound label is actually the Coronet/Premier budget label (based in NYC) that handled a lot of retreads from Spin-O-Rama/Synthetic Plastics in NJ.
There's a whole series that was eventually released as a 10-LP boxed set, which you'll find here:
http://www.records.fruityfamily.com/?p=186
(I don't remember anything about the quality of the LPs he had.)

Some of the albums are actually miscredited tracks from the Francis Bay Big Band LPs, and I think a couple of other LPs are uncredited Ralph Marterie albums (don't remember the spelling of his last name).

I am AMAZED at the number of spammers that try to leave comments here.
I've been getting them via subscription to my e-mail, and most of them aren't even Google-Translate English!
Do you know of anything we can do to get rid of them? Flag their website as spam? Whatever?

Rich said...

I'm not sure how to get rid of the spammers other than go private. I may do that yet.

Please send me an invitation if you do.

I have been meaning for some time to contribute one or more Johnny Pearson Albums . However I did not want to send just any quality but the absolute best. I also wanted to avoid compilation albums but instead pick the rarest and valuable studio ones.

Please find Johnny Pearson "I remember that Summer". Circa 1980/81. Crystal clear quality. Forgive my very ordinary photography on cover and back.

More bio info, Johnny Pearson on Wikipedia is recomended.

But here is my contribution.

They seem to have some connection to the LoungeLegends.blog.
Rips @192 seem to be the standard, but that may just be the ones that I chose to download.
