SOUNDSVILLE !

Well todays album is Soundsville by Jack Marshall. Looking at Jack on the album cover, gives you an idea of how the album is going to sound. Funny and quirky in a cool hip sort of way. I really had to question a couple of the songs on the album but once I heard them I was totally sold. So sit back, listen and you too may be on your way to Soundsville!

Excellent, as usual :)
Been looking around for a good copy of this for ages (LOVE YOUR SCANS)
Do you have any other Jack Marshall albums, his theme to The Munsters is great, do you know if it apears on one of his albums?

Thanks once again for all the great albums

Jason

Thanks for a great new blog. You have excellent taste.

Glad that I can be of service to everyone here! No, the Munsters theme is not in this album but you can bet I'll be looking for more of Jack's albums, they are really something else. I do have Les Baxter: Adventures in Sound that I plan to do next. It's a double album so it may take a little longer than usual to rip but once I get going things seem to go by pretty fast, especially if I really stick with it. Again a thanks to everyone for the support.

Nice, you can't beat a bit of Les Baxter :)

I've just tuned into your site--great selection of music, info and comraderie.

Marshall's LPs always have some top notch tracks. Prime albums include: "Sounds Unheard Of", jazzy standards on solo acoustic guitar and multiple percussion, with Shelly Manne; "Tuff Jack", pop hits meet big band with electric guitar; "The Marshall Swings", country & western done big band style; "The Happy Youthful New Sounds of The Guitar Ramblers", originals and covers highlighting early '60s surf, folk, pop sounds. He also lent his arranging asnd producing touch to many other EZ artists and albums.

Dear Rich,

Congratulations for your wonderful blog return !

I would like to follow your other blog, named Your Father´s Den, because I like open reel pre-recorded tapes very much !

Could it be possible ? Could you invite me ?

Thanks in advance.

Regards from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Philippe

Philippe,
Yes I'll send you an invite. Unfortunately, I've been hit in a major way since the shut down of Megaupload. I will be re-posting there soon. I'll star out with your reel of choice!

Dear Rich,

Thank you so much for the invite ! I´m very happy.

On December 26, 2008 I sent the following comment to you: A great companion for "The Many Moods of Kapp" could be "Moods Two" (AMPEX RSL-408). All the best

If you have or find this tape, please place it on your blog as a gift for all of us, who appreciate the magnificent and pure sound of pre-recorded open reel tape !

Again, thank you, very, very much !

Regards from Brazil.

Philippe

Mr. Vinyl Lounge Hut, thank you very, very much for the re-upload of Melachrino "Something To Remeber You By". Woderful rip and wonderful record! Sadly I can not download the re-up you also made for the "Fiesta" post, the file is to much large to download.
Greetings, Nina

Do you have the albums "Sophisticated Swing" and "Best Band On Campus" by Les Elgart?

Leon Bloom said...

These guys have lots of soul albums and until recently vinylbooty.com has focused primary wholesale records sales (think orders of $200 or more). They are now offering their catalog on a more retail friendly site. For every record listed they have links directly to recordsbymail, Gemm and other competitors. Their grading is very fair and they have a pretty good selection in 14,000 albums.

Thanks for many great posts. Do you have "It's De-lovely" or "Best Band On Campus" by Les Elgart?
